DOES AGE MATTER?

Watching the Pacquiao-De La Joya fight, Golden Boy looked tentative and slow, a mere shadow of the warrior we used to know.

Towards the end, I heard someone comment perhaps because of his age, De La Joya could not catch up with the faster, much younger Pacquiao.

Age? He's only 35 ! They're calling him old? I'm 44. What does that make me? Ancient?

Then again, De La Joya accomplished so much in his 35 years than many of us can even dare dream of. Perhaps it was just high time Golden Boy move on towards loftier goals and leave the punching and the bleeding to the young ones.
